Concept, goals, target
When it comes to video it's extremely important to know who the viewers will be and create a story and concept that is appealing to those viewers.
-
Mood board, script
Different mood boards are created to show various concept ideas allowing us to visually convey a creative concept. Scripts are drafted up for each creative concept, providing more detail for the client.
-
Storyboard, narration
Once a creative concept and script is approved we continue with drawing up storyboards for the scenes that we’ll be filming. Same works for animated videos. The narration is recorded, and we do a simple animatic with narration, based on the storyboard.
-
Casting, production planning
Pre-production tasks start once the script, narration and storyboard are approved. Proper planning ensures that location scouting, set design, the casting of actors, extras, and models who might need to be used in the video, test filming, etc. are in sync for the filming days.
-
Production, filming
When all is ready, set and approved, filming can start. This can take several days and usually a large team is involved: camera operators, directors, hair & make-up artists, set-designers, technicians, etc. For smaller, low-cost videos smaller teams are used to remain cost efficient. Everything is filmed based on a scene list and storyboard.
-
Post-production, VFX
Once the filming is complete the raw materials land on the editor’s desk for post-production. This is where hours and hours of footage get converted into a stunning 1-2 minute video. Visual effects or other animation is added in post. Music is composed for the final video, giving it its rhythm.
-
Video handover
The video gets its final colour grading and is handed over to the client. At this stage the draft video has been reviewed several times in post and only the finishing touches have to be done before it’s handed over.
